County opposes SAFE Act – Niagara County is the latest county to go on record opposing the New York SAFE Act.  At Tuesday’s meeting, the Legislature a resolution opposing the “unfunded mandate of implementing provisions” of the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act and requesting the state to reimburse Niagara County its costs for implementing the controversial legislation.  Legislators W. Keith McNall, R-Lockport, and Anthony J. Nemi, I-Lockport, sponsored the resolution. Niagara County is one of 52 county legislatures to formally oppose the SAFE Act.
