Cuomo Proposes Lowering Hunting, Fishing Fees, But Gun Enthusiasts Still Don’t Like Him – Gov. Andrew Cuomo proposed streamlining the process of acquiring state hunting and fishing licenses and reducing their cost by 25 percent in a budgetary amendment on Wednesday. He called the current state licensing system “overly complex, burdensome and bizarre” and vowed to lower the price of yearly hunting licenses from $29 to $22 and fishing licenses from $29 to $25; reduce the cost of non-resident licenses; make fishing licenses valid for one year from the date of purchase; and continue discounted licenses for youth, seniors and veterans. But hunting enthusiasts say that it will take more to earn their trust after the recent passage of legislation regulating gun and ammunition purchases.
