Homeowner shoots at home invaders – The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office say a homeowner managed to stop an attempted home invasion around 12:30 p.m. on Thursday.  Police say two men went to a home on Mayville-Sherman Road in the town of Chautauqua. While one waited in the car, the other knocked on the door. The suspect asked the homeowner if there was any land to rent in the area, then forced his way into the home, displaying a handgun and forcing the homeowner and a woman to lie down on the floor. The homeowner armed himself with a small caliber handgun and fired three times at the suspect, who fled out the door.
