    Nyack Village Approves Support For Cuomo's Gun Act - Although the Rockland County Legislature showed concerns for parts of the NY Safe Act and passed a resolution requesting the state repeal certain aspects, at Thursday night's the Nyack Village board unanimously passed a resolution supporting Cuomo's NY Safe Act.

    Sen. Kathy Marchione files bill to repeal Gov. Cuomo's gun law amid huge Albany protest - Sen. Kathy Marchione, R-Halfmoon, filed a bill to repeal Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s gun law Thursday as an estimated 5,000 protesters rallied outside the Capitol to condemn the measure as government tyranny.  "Your governor is willing to sacrifice the Constitution, your rights as citizens and the prerogatives of his Legislature on the altar of his own ambition and the ego of Mayor Michael Bloomberg of New York City," National Rifle Association President David Keene told the crowd.


    County committee split on NY SAFE Act

    County committee split on NY SAFE Act - The County Government Committee of the Columbia County Board of Supervisors passed a resolution on Tuesday calling for the repeal of the NY Safe Act passed by the State Legislature last month.  The committee voted 6-2 in favor, with supervisors Jesse DeGroodt, NOP-Chatham, Thomas Garrick, R-Gallatin, Ron Knott, R-Stuyvesant, Kevin McDonald, R-Livingston, Matt Murell, R-Stockport and Raymond Staats, D-Clermont voting in support. Voting against the measure were supervisors Edward Cross, D-Hudson2 and Ellen Thurston, D-Hudson3.


    St. Lawrence County okays resolution opposing NY SAFE Act

    St. Lawrence County okays resolution opposing NY SAFE Act - St. Lawrence County legislators unanimously went on record Monday opposing parts of the NY SAFE Act during a sometimes raucous meeting attended by more than 150 gun enthusiasts.  “What the bill does not do is make anyone safer,” said Assemblyman Marc W. Butler, R-Newport, who attended the meeting that had to be moved from the Board of Legislators chambers to the state Supreme Court room because of the crowd. “We’re getting a great deal of push-back on this. I think the bill is flawed.”
