To All,
The missive below addressed to three very Pro Gun Legislators from a soldier, NRA member and NYSRPA member stationed in Kabul, Afghanistan explaining his position and letter to anti gun leader Sen. Daniel Squadron is very interesting and describes in detail his feelings about the Second Amendment.
Please read and enjoy!
Thank you,

I did not intend my below message to the Senator from Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn to become such a stream of consciousness, but it did … I am just fed up with those people always blaming MY GUNS for THEIR SOCIAL problems which THEY ARE RESPONSIBLE for, NOT ME … I assure you, I am not a mad, gun-slinger … I carry a Beretta 9mm Parabellum around Kabul because I must remain prepared, at all times, to act in my own defense, or that of my NATO friends, or my interpreter, while I am over here … and one can never know what truly lies in any Afghan’s heart … NYC is as integral to the Empire State as all the rest of us combined … but in my observation of history, the best way to deal with evil men who confront good citizens is by immediate and direct confrontation … good citizens can only do that, if they are empowered to do so, responsibly and legally … our Constitution empowers our citizenry to such position of responsibility; sadly, some local jurisdictions take away, or severely infringe, such personal responsibility and empowerment, which only serves to create government dependents in a way which our Founders never, never, intended, but which is a convenient cover for power hungry politicians, as well as increase the level of violence IN EVERY SUCH jurisdiction …

Thank you for hearing this, and my best regards for upcoming elections – I hope my absentee ballot arrives soon – my roommate from Florida already received his, a week ago, and while mine may have no impact on National races, it will certainly be accountable for you, Jim and Claudia, and Richard Hanna along the way …

Cheers from Kabul, and my very best regards,

Mike

Read your NY Daily News think piece … have you ever owned a hunting dog that just don’t hunt? Well, Mr. Senator from the Financial District of NYC, your sentiments and rationale defending your political position on gun control JUST DON’T HUNT. Yours be a Sisyphean quest in our Constitutionally democratic republic. It appears that men like me are just going to have to keep dogging city dwellers who seem to believe that infringing my right to keep and bear arms is going to make living in your NYC district safer — are you a lame brain, did you just learn that drivel as a Yalie, or as an underling paper pusher for Charlie Schumer? When are you people going to recognize that criminals and evil men are going to get guns and, from time to time, attempt to do violent harm to unarmed and defenseless citizens, when those citizens least expect it? When are you going to recognize that no FREELY governed people can underwrite so large a government bureaucracy, or police force, that can positively guarantee every person’s safety, all the time? When are you going to recognize that the average response time for a police 911 call is 6 minutes, while that of a responsibly armed and prepared citizen is 4-5 seconds? Why, just 51 or so weeks ago, retired and active NYC Police from the 68th Precinct of Brooklyn were busted for gun-running into NYC … you do have a piece of the political action in Brooklyn, do you not? … and you have quite the cabal of modern day Tweed-types, trying to ram this notion that microstamping is going to solve gun tracking problems, like pixie dust in Wonderland, down our throats … you, Peralta, Duane, Schneiderman — what a crock of dung – in regards to infringing my right to keep and bear arms … I must be part of that “special interest” known as the NRA or the NYSRPA — which stands with sensible Americans to defend Constitutional Rights and values … damn straight I am … just a little guy from the hill country Upstate …

1. It is none of your damn business what gun or guns I choose to own, shoot, and train with, Senator – so long as I am responsibly armed and trained — and given my training … I’ll continue to hammer at you – besides, it is excellent therapy … just like shooting out back of my barn back home with my family … if I want a 20 round magazine for my M1A, rather than just a 10 round magazine, you are damned well not going to outlaw my choice …

2. It is none of your damn business what guns I choose to procure privately, from other responsible gun owners – period … though I recognize, grudgingly, that by moving back to my home state, after so many years in Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Kansas (where gun laws are quite sensible, and gun violence measurably lower than NYC), I would be compelled to DEAL with big city pols like yourself to defend my rights and values … if Government be the only authority which may direct who may own guns, then what do we citizens become? Governance advocated by legislators such as yourself place me and my progeny on the road to serfdom, Daniel … that DOG JUST DON’T HUNT … and never will, on my watch … you ought purge such proscription from your lexicon …

3. It is a societal travesty that evil, deviant men continue to do harm to innocent children and citizens … a responsible government would take appropriate action to insure citizens can defend themselves, rather than disarm them into potential victims … this is a global challenge, with selective problems in the US (like NYC, Detroit, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Chicago, etc.) … the history of mankind is filled with so-called-do-gooders depriving citizens of their arms, then tyrannizing, and slaughtering them … Ancient Egypt, England, Nazi Germany, Czarist Russia and Communist Soviet Union, Ottoman Turks … the list is long, and there are millions of slaughtered innocents to account …

4. Cease and desist in writing legislation and tax policy which stifles small business creation and growth in New York State … sponsor public policy which incentivizes small business creation in New York — if you had a vibrant economy in New York City, you would have more people working, paying taxes, and far less violence – deflecting the subject from economic weakness into one regarding additional infringements on my gun ownership rights … now, that be another dog that don’t hunt …

5. You need to get the message to your old boss, Charlie Schumer, and his little doggie in the back window, Kirstin Gillibrand, that this fellow in the White House’s Independent Payment and Advisory Board provision of Obamacare is an abortion of enormous, anti-American, Un-Constitutional proportions … starting next year, IPAB’S 15 appointed, un-elected commissars establish rules – IN LAW – for allocation of services and payments, WITHOUT CONGRESSIONAL AUTHORIZATION OR PRESIDENTIAL SIGNATURE!!! Obamacare already places a job-destroying debacle on your hands … you may very well find yourself with an even bigger issue regarding guns if you don’t get that fixed, and pronto … 6 November 12 may help us wee folk sort out the Presidency piece, but, you of post Ellis Island experience need to dip back a little further to understand the real roots of American democracy … suggest you go watch “Gangs of New York” and “Last of the Mohicans” to garnish some sense for … the good, the bad, and the ugly …

America’s founders were keenly aware of English history … which is PRECISELY why our founders established our Constitution and its inviolable covenants … frankly, I just don’t trust you to know what is right for me and my ilk, Senator – since most of my ancestors, though not all, were already in America before Ellis Island was opened … and I, unlike yourself, can speak of my own military service to our country, as well as that of my sons, my father, and my ancestors all the way back to Herkimer’s militia – or ‘mujahedeen,’ as I speak of them with my Afghan comrades here in Kabul … see attached picture of me after teaching the Afghan National Army War College class #9, earlier this week … you and your New York City ilk need to loosen up the gun ownership infringements you and your predecessors have imposed on New York City’s citizens, and save the NYPD a ton of work, by easing the rights of citizens, particularly small business shopkeepers, to defend themselves. There is a solution to reduce violence and protect citizens in New York City better … your restrictive approach IS NOT IT … my guns remain the ultimate guarantor of my freedoms and security – keep your mitts off them!

Cheers and Huzzahs from Kabul.

Most resolutely yours,
Michael
