Mayor: No jobs lost as Remington Arms cuts positions – The village’s mayor said some changes at the Remington Arms plant won’t affect the number of jobs. Mayor Terry Leonard said he received a telephone call Monday afternoon from the head manager of the Remington Arms facility in Ilion to talk about the gun manufacturing company’s current changes in workforce. “The bottom line is there is no reduction in force,” said Leonard. “No jobs are being lost. Some are being moved around.” Leonard said the facility’s custom gun shop will move to South Dakota, and the seven to eight employees in that department will be able to find different positions in the Ilion facility. He also said the two to three employees with the service repair center — which will be shifted to various gunsmiths and stores around the country — also will be able to find other jobs at the Ilion plant. “It’s a business move,” Leonard said. “There’s no reduction in workforce.”
