NY SAFE Act opponents encouraged to stand up, speak out against law at rally – What was originally billed as a rally became more of a recruitment event Tuesday evening as incumbents and candidates from municipal, state and federal governments urged supporters to not only vote in the upcoming election themselves, but also to lobby others to do the same in an effort to speak out against the NY SAFE Act. Second Amendment supporters packed the Center Brunswick Fire Hall for the Challenge NY SAFE Act rally, sponsored by the Brunswick Sportsmen’s Club, to show their displeasure with the NY SAFE Act, passed in Jan. 2013, as they claim it was just a first step in more of their rights being taken away.
