SLC Lawmaker Renews Call To Oppose SAFE Act – Republican St. Lawrence County Legislator Joel LaPierre is calling for others on the board to once again stand up against New York’s strict gun control laws.  LaPierre says the SAFE Act, as it’s called, “treats countless New York state law-abiding gun owners as criminals.”  He says he plans to call for repeal of the legislation at Monday night’s county legislature meeting. He says the SAFE Act will have a significant financial impact due to the more than 17,000
county pistol permits that will need to be renewed.  The county legislature already voted to oppose the SAFE Act in February 2013.
