Ryan Talks Gun Control – Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan is asking President Obama to put stricter gun control measures in place.  He and about 750 other mayors have written a letter to the President. They are asking that every potential gun buyer have a criminal background check run on them. Currently, some buyers avoid checks by buying guns on-line or through unlicensed private sellers. ‘Journal News’ advertisers face boycott over gun map – The New York State Rifle & Pistol Association is calling for a nationwide boycott of the advertisers of the suburban New York newspaper that published online maps revealing names and addresses of people with pistol permits.  The association on Monday announced it was urging people to stop patronizing any business who advertises with Gannett — the White Plains-based Journal News’ parent company — until the map is removed.
