Local trap shooters participate in Road Runner event – A dozen five-member trap shooting teams traversed the north country on Saturday as part of the second annual Northern Tier Trap League 200 Bird Road Runner competition. “As far as I know, nobody north of the Thruway has ever done this,” said event organizer Jon Putman, a member of the Carthage Fish & Game Club team. Shooting program takes off in city school – In the bowels of Charlotte High School, around the corner from the boiler room and directly beneath the swimming pool, shots ring out. It is hot, humid and noisy. Four young men are prone and propped up on their backpacks with Olympic-grade Daisy single-shot air rifles pointed down-range. Master Sgt. Shawn Legault paces behind them. Award-winning ‘Women in Nature’ program set for April 25 at F-M Rod and Gun Club – The Onondaga County Federation of Sportsmen’s Clubs has scheduled its 9th annual “Women in Nature” program for April 25 at the Fayetteville-Manlius Rod and Gun Club.  The award-winning program is a free, day-long series of workshops for women focusing on introductory outdoor skills.  This year’s event is featuring 22 different mini-courses.
