Genesee sportsmen seek backing for use of rifles for deer hunting – The Genesee County Sportsmen’s Federation asked county lawmakers Monday to support the use of rifles to hunt deer in the county. Members of the federation — 12 fish and game clubs with a total of 2,225 members comprise it — spoke at Monday’s Public Service Committee meeting. Glen Adams of Le Roy, secretary of the federation, said a state Department of Environmental law enforcement officer with whom he’s spoken believes rifles are safe for hunting deer in Genesee County.
