Jefferson County Wants State To Stop Using Seal For SAFE Act – It’s a direct shot at the NY SAFE Act, the state’s gun control legislation.  It’s something that started in January with a meeting of county clerks.  “We did a round table and realized that this was a high concern,” said Jefferson County Clerk Gizelle Meeks.  What they realized was that the state was adding each county’s seal to pistol permits without any of the counties’ approval.  Meanwhile, Jefferson County legislators were hearing about it from constituents.  “Two or three calls, two or three emails in a district my size, very gun friendly, very concerned with the SAFE Act as a whole,” said Legislator Jeremiah Maxon (R. – District 10).
