New York State Rifle and Pistol Association targets Cuomo administration’s push to beef up gun laws – ew York’s most powerful gun lobbying group is taking aim at Gov. Cuomo’s push to enact some of the strongest gun controls in the country. Thomas King, president of the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, said his organization will activate phone banks after Christmas asking gun owners to bombard Cuomo and legislators with phone calls and emails opposing new restrictions on firearms. “If I thought for a moment that by giving up my guns it would prevent things like the Newtown massacre, I would do it,” said King, citing the deadly rampage at a Connecticut school. “But I know that’s not true.”
