Obituaries – Charles D. Poles, Jr. – Charles D. Poles Jr. Formerly of Rochester, New York, Charles Poles was born on 07/16/1949 and passed away 10/08/2011. He was a graduate of Monroe High School and had attended Colgate University. Only child of Charles D. Poles Sr., and Jean Poles. His Aunt Marilyn Powers and Uncle Grenard Poles and many cousins survive him. He is also survived by many close friends and associates that he made over the years in his various endeavors, through his enthusiastic and outgoing personality.

Charles was a former CE, Quality Auditor, COS Project Manager and served on the Helpdesk with IBM Corporation. He was a pipe and cigar aficionado, and managed both Briar Route Tobacco, and O’Leary’s Smoke Shop. He educated many through his knowledge and love of these topics. He had great enthusiasm for music, art, and photography and loved dogs, especially his Tarna.

Charlie was an NRA Benefactor Member, and a Life member of Dutchess County Pistol Association. He was an NRA certified Pistol Safety Instructor and Coach who taught and assisted many individuals in the safe and proper use of firearms. He was passionate about his interest in the shooting sports. He served as Hudson Valley Regional Director for the New York State Rifle and Pistol Association, and was recognized as a 20 year volunteer for the NRA National Pistol Championships at Camp Perry Ohio, where he was a Chief Range Officer. He was a member of the Mid-Hudson Friends of NRA committee, where he assisted the committee in its efforts to help the shooting sports and many firearms safety programs.

There will be no calling hours. He will be buried with his parents in a private ceremony in the Mount Hope cemetery in Rochester on Saturday 10/29/2011. A memorial service to honor Charles will be held locally in the future.
