Rep. Israel Calls for Renewing Plastic Gun Ban – A Long Island congressman is urging the renewal of a federal ban on plastic guns that are just as deadly but don’t set off metal detectors.  Rep. Steve Israel (D-Dix Hills) cited the new possibility of building plastic guns at home using 3-D printers, potentially putting the public at risk. Although printing all of the parts to make a gun at home isn’t currently feasible, he said the technology is advancing to the point that homemade plastic guns could soon become a reality.
