Rice replaces McCarthy on gun violence prevention task force

Rice replaces McCarthy on gun violence prevention task force – Rep. Kathleen Rice (D-Garden City) announced today she will replace retired Rep. Carolyn McCarthy (D-Mineola) as vice chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force. McCarthy helped found the group after the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newton, Conn., on Dec. 14, 2012. Rep. Mike Thompson (D-Calif.) chairs the task force.
