The Town of Johnsburg is considering a local ordinance to prohibit the possession of firearms/weapons on town properties including by pistol license holders.  Here is a copy of the proposal.

A public hearing has been scheduled for October 4, 2011 @ 7:00pm at the Wevertown Community Center.  Gun owners are encouraged to attend.

September 27 Update: the proposal has been tabled.  According to the Post-Star, “Johnsburg officials drop gun ban proposal for town buildings“:

“Public reaction has killed a proposed law that would have outlawed guns from local municipal buildings.  Town Supervisor Sterling Goodspeed officially withdrew the proposal on Tuesday, citing a lack of support among the Town Board and belligerent acrimony in the community … The state’s largest gun rights lobby, the New York State Pistol and Rifle Association, has been urging local gun-owning residents to attend the hearing and voice anger and dissent …”
