Ulster County committee delays action on SAFE Act letters – Confusion and uncertainty about how pistol permit recertifications will be handled under the New York SAFE Act, and who will handle them, prompted members of an Ulster County Legislature committee to delay action on a measure that would prohibit the state from using the county seal on recertification letters.  The resolution taken up by the Laws, Rules and Government Administration Committee on Tuesday is similar to one being passed by counties across the state. Dutchess and Greene counties are among those that have denied the state permission to use those counties’ seals on letters being sent to county residents who hold pistol permits.
