PISTOL PERMIT RE-CERTIFICATION

PISTOL PERMIT RE-CERTIFICATION

PISTOL PERMIT RE-CERTIFICATION https://firearms.troopers.ny.gov/pprecert/welcome.faces Ladies and Gentlemen, I know there is a lot of talk and consternation regarding the re-certification process and the page that has recently been made active by the NYSP. Let me perfectly clear; while we object to any regulation that places any additional burden on the practice of our Second Amendment Rights we cannot advise you not to re-certify. If we preformed that illegal act it would have dire consequences for the Association. I would suggest to those re-certifying to visit their County Clerk’s Office to make sure your permit matches what is on file in the office. Remember you have one year to perform this re-certification, make good use of that time, make sure everything is correct. I would also suggest that December 29, 2017 would be a good time to re-certify for two reasons (1.) It will give us time to work on a legislative fix (2.) It would be a good test of the system’s capabilities. If you have any questions please contact us. Tom King Cogito ergo armatus... read more
RE: The issuance of an additional hand gun permit

RE: The issuance of an additional hand gun permit

Members, Below is a copy of a letter we sent to the NYPD. If you fall in this situation regarding the issuance of an addittional hand gun please feel free to copy this letter or modify it to fit your situation. Tom King   Commanding Officer License Division One Police Plaza Room 152 New York, NY 10038   Regarding: NYC Pistol Permit Number ————-   Dear Sir: I have been recently notified by the NYPD Licensing Division that my application for adding an additional firearm to my NYC permit has been declined. It has also been brought to my attention that numerous individuals received a “Handgun Purchase/Addition Disapproval Notice” from the License Division. They all have a computerized checkmark next to number one “Insufficient need for an additional handgun.” Please provide the authority upon which “need” must be shown, and what constitutes “need” sufficient to add a handgun to an existing license. NYC Laws and Regulations provide that requests for additional handguns shall be reviewed on an individual basis.  Please describe the individual review conducted for the requests received. Lastly, the Disapproval notice provides a ten-day time period to request reconsideration.  Please provide the basis for that time period and the procedures of the reconsideration process. Thank you for your consideration, Your... read more
MidwayUSA Update

MidwayUSA Update

Members, It has come to our attention that a number of MidwayUSA customers were notified that Midway could no longer ship primers or powders to Upstate New York. We have resolved that situation through working with the good people at Midway, shipments of primers and powder will resume. At no time were the Midway people attempting to curtail any 2nd Amendment Rights they were merely responding to an erroneous computer code that they corrected immediately when we discussed the issue with them. What many of you might not know is that MidwayUSA is a huge financial supporter of all the NRA programs and sponsors the NRA Annual meeting. Please support MidwayUSA as much as the support us. New York: Further Infringements Avoided as Session Comes to an End

New York: Further Infringements Avoided as Session Comes to an End

Legislators concluded the 2016 Legislative Session last weekend as Friday, June 17, turned into Saturday morning in Albany.  Lawmakers typically force a long list of bills through the process in a short amount of time in the waning hours of session, and this is the time of year to be hyper-vigilant.  Like the SAFE Act, much of this legislation goes through in the middle of the night with little or no public input or attention. As the frenzied end of session came to a close, your NRA-ILA is happy to report that gun owners were spared this session from additional damage.  Despite the fact that anti-gun politicians secured one of the toughest gun control laws in the country with the passage of the SAFE Act in 2013, they will never be completely satisfied until guns are completely banned in the Empire State.  The dozens of anti-gun bills introduced this year are proof of that.  Groups like New Yorkers Against Gun Violence unbelievably claim there aren’t enough gun control laws, and they continue to push for more restrictions on your Second Amendment rights. The 2016 session had no shortage of gun control bills.  Three bills headlined the push from anti-gun groups in Albany, and NRA vigorously fought these bills, in addition to others.  S.2050A, sponsored by state Senator Daniel Squadron, would have banned .50 Caliber rifles, even though this firearm is virtually never used in the commission of a crime.  Bill sponsors certainly can’t point to an example in New York.  Fortunately, the bill did not move and failed to clear the Senate Codes Committee.  Legislation requiring mandatory storage of firearms was... read more

Let’s get this straight from the start, I support Donald Trump for President of the United States.

Come Together Let’s get this straight from the start, I support Donald Trump for President of the United States. That was not so one year ago when I supported Mike Huckabee because of how and what he said at the NRA Annual Meetings in Nashville. At this point in time no matter what the pundits are saying Mr. Trump is our last best hope to defeat Hillary Clinton. Think about this for a moment; millions more people voted for Mr. Trump than any other Republican candidate, he brought thousands if not millions of new voters to the party and through thick and thin they stayed with him. Loyalty is a scarce commodity these days but his supporters have it. But all that said there is a more important aspect of this election to be considered. We must support whoever is chosen as the Republican candidate for President and it doesn’t matter that I think Trump is the best man for the job and that I will be working toward that goal. The most important goal of this election cycle is to elect a Republican President. Why? Following are the eight most important reasons: Kennedy          80                                Sotomayor       62 Ginsburg          83                                Roberts            61 Breyer             78                                Alito                 61 Thomas           68                                Kagan              56   Look at the judges’ age. The next President if elected for two terms will most likely nominate three or four judges to fill vacancies on that list to the Supreme Court; as well as nominate a candidate to replace deceased Justice Antonin Scalia. Think of that for a moment. This is one of the most precarious times that I... read more
